As we settle into the heart of summer, it’s a season often filled with movement, travel, and shifts in routine. Yet, it’s also the perfect time for stillness. While the long days and vibrant energy of summer may feel like a whirlwind, there’s a quieter side to this season that calls for rest, reflection, and recalibration.
As we head into the second half of the year, I’m inviting you to slow down with me, an intentional pause before the bigger transformations begin. This is your chance to not just rest, but also to reset your mind, body, and soul, as we prepare for the rest of the year ahead.
Mindful Movement for the Road
Travel is often a big part of summer, and we tend to find ourselves sitting for long stretches—whether it’s on a plane, in the car, or even lounging in a chair. But just because you’re seated doesn’t mean you can stay present and engaged with your body.
Here’s a gentle travel-friendly reset you can practice anywhere:
Roll your shoulders back and down.
Relax your jaw, unhinging your brow.
Sit up tall, lengthening your spine.
Slowly roll your neck from side to side.
Take three full, slow breaths (inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth).
If you stop for gas or snacks, take a short walk or stretch at the pump.
These little shifts can help keep your body and nervous system grounded, even during long travels.
What I’m Reading: Pema Chödrön’s “When Things Fall Apart”

As we approach the deeper months of the year, I’ve been diving into a book that keeps teaching me new layers of wisdom: When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chödrön. This book has become a steady companion for me, especially during moments of transition.
In Chapter 14, The Love That Will Not Die, Pema challenges the notion that spiritual awakening means rising above life’s challenges. Instead, she invites us to go deeper into the messy, human experience—to soften into pain, chaos, and discomfort instead of avoiding it. There is so much beauty in this process, especially as we navigate our own lives.
If you’re navigating any type of transition or seeking inner peace, this book is a powerful read. If you’d like to add it to your reading list, here’s the link to grab your copy.

Final Thoughts: Find Your Pause Amidst the Busyness
As the summer unfolds, I encourage you to find your own moments of pause. Whether it’s taking a few deep breaths while sitting in traffic or reading a chapter of a book before bed, these small shifts make a big difference in how we move through our days.
Remember, rest doesn’t always look like lying down—sometimes, it’s a quiet shift in how we carry ourselves through the day. Let’s intentionally cultivate moments of rest, so we can step into the second half of the year feeling grounded, rejuvenated, and aligned.
